Taken from Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Guide to the Inner Sea Region
The coastal town of Sandpoint has enjoyed great prosperity in its 4 or so decades of existence, and has recently grown large enough to become Varisia’s sixth-largest city. Despite recent growing pains (such as an increase in crime, including the depredation of the notorious murderer Jervas Stoot, known also as “Chopper”), Sandpoint’s mayer, Kendra Deverin, hopes to see her town’s prosperity grow even further in the years to come. Sandpoint is built around and ancient Thassionian tower known today as the Old Light. This ruined edifice, combined with the town’s traditional problems with local goblin tribes, make it a hotbed of adventuring opportunity.
In it’s short time as a city of Varisia, Sandpoint has been a hot spot for local adventurers and ne’er-do-wells. That combined with the town’s founding being based on trade leads to Sandpoint having a very rich history of trade and lax trade polcies for caravans of all types. A popular spot for Varisian caravans, Sandpoint continues to boast a large market square where many goods can be bought and sold and given the general proclivity of the town to ere on the side of good, most of these wares are ethically made or at least, ethically sold.
The people of Sandpoint are a good hardly lot and often somewhat trusting of outsiders. Friendly competition abounds, but almost never gets out of hand. One rather unique feature of the town is a welcome sign on the southern road leading into the township reads, “Welcome to Sandpoint.” Below that, a small shard of a mirror and the words, “Please stop to see yourself as we see you.”

At the start of Jade Regent, the citizens of Sandpoint are just starting to get settled after the events of Rise of the Runelords. While the events of various Paizo Adventure Paths have already happened, Rise of the Runelords is the one that has affected the little township the most.
In particular, the events from a few years past has left Ameiko Kaijitsu with big shoes to fill and empty places in her heart. While the tragic death of a her father, mother, and brother in the past few years has left emotional scars, the young talented bard is still standing and happily running her tavern, The Rusty Dragon. Occasionally, she still sees the man she counts as her older brother, Sandru Vhiski when his caravan comes rolling through town, along with the Koya Mvashti, a woman who’s big heart readily accepted Ameiko after the loss of her family. Additionally, a fellow adventurer and kindred spirit, the elf Shalelu Andosana stops by the Rusty Dragon when she comes into town to say hello to her old friend.
Indeed, everything seems perfectly normal in the town of Sandpoint and Ameiko’s life until the day a Tian man walks into the Rusty Dragon named Arai Takeo. . .
Following the events the Brinestump Marsh, the recovery of both the Kaijitsu Star, and Rokuro Kaijitsu’s long-overdue note to Ameiko’s father, Longjiku Kaijitsu, Ameiko and the Companions left the Rusty Dragon to pursue her family’s history in the ancient walls of Brinewall. The Rusty Dragon and Sandpoint, despite losing some of their rising stars to adventure and glory, continues to host many more rising stars and adventurers seeking the very same thing.
